  • Storm Approaching Dry Grounds received a Juror Commendation from Stephanie Goldman in SDSW’s June 2023 Members’ Show “Color Scheming.”

“This painting is very captivating, and it drew me in right away. It is practically abstract, but it is clearly a landscape. There is so much emotion in it – I can feel the storm approaching! I think this kind of painting is very hard to do, getting the feeling of what is happening with weather in paint without getting too hard-edged or stuck in overdoing the realism. It is wonderfully done.”

  • Honorable Mention, Miniatures

“I like the spring motif. There is the egg which is literal, but there are lots of nice curvy things going on, there are lots of other shapes. I like the rhythms, the colors, and the textures. It is a beautiful painting.” - Juror Ralph Kingery on NESTING.

  • Best of Theme

“A wonderful painting, spontaneous, with the feeling of a much larger piece. A definite a priori interpretation of The Decisive Moment.” - Juror Richard Glassman on Surrender the Daylight.
