Pat Crowl, a former San Diego resident, continues as an active San Diego Watercolor Society (SDWS) member and art teacher, who enjoys participating in the SDWS monthly member shows. After moving to Asheville, North Carolina in the fall of 2019, she is getting involved with the vibrant local art scene. She primarily uses acrylic or gouache as media, sometimes incorporating collage paper, ink, graphite, and transparent watercolor. Working from her light-filled, spacious home studio, she is inspired by trying new color schemes and materials. Pat occasionally works from photos, but often from her imagination. Creating a dynamic composition and mood, she says, is often like solving a puzzle. She responds to initial marks and tries to find a unique resolution.
